although 29 weeks was not originally one of our major milestones, today we are eating extra donuts.
last week we were feeling great as we welcomed 28 weeks and were maybe even starting to become a little naive about everything that could still happen. we had 5 great weeks in a row so it was hard not to become optimistic and hopeful that the rest of my pregnancy would continue to be this way. I had even begun to think that maybe i would have september babies. unfortunately, when we went to my weekly appointment we found out that this is not the case. my cervix has begun shortening again, my stitch is under a lot of tension/pressure, and it seems like there is some sort of preterm labor process going on. on wednesday we were immediately sent over to labor and delivery where i started a series of steroid shots to help develop the babies’ lungs {the second and final dose was given on thursday}. and although this is not ideal, i am so happy we were able to get the steroids on board. at this point it’s really just a waiting game and every day that goes by is another day that the babies get to cook. to be honest, last week we really didn’t think we would hit 29 weeks today and now that we have, i’m hoping we can get to 30!
I hope you’ll all enjoy donuts with us today!

Tess this is fantastic! Im a NICU nurse now, and I’ve had nothing but 100% success stories with 28+ weekers who got their betamethasone! You and the babies are going to do great!!!

thanks lisa! that’s so great to hear! they’ll be born at a great level III NICU so i’m taking some comfort in that. i’m hoping i can at least 1 more week out of them so that they can hopefully hit the 3 pound mark. i’ve heard the 3 pounders do especially well. thanks for the sweet words! hope you are doing well!
