we’ve been back from spain for about 5 days now. it was so hard to leave such a beautiful country. it was a bit of a fiasco last wednesday coming home, but that’s neither here nor there. we are home. and that’s all that’s important.

it’s been hard getting back into the swing of things. jet lag has made this especially difficult. for the first couple of days adam + i were waking up as early as 3am! we’re slowly getting back into our normal schedule now. to be honest the first couple of days we were home were pretty boring – lots of laundry, cleaning, + running errands. but oh man, was i so excited to see this face!

this weekend, we were a little more exciting. and on friday night we had the honor of attending an amazing charity event {holla for als}.  amyotrophic lateral sclerosis {als : also called lou gehrig’s disease} is terrible disease that affects the nerves in the body. als is unfortunately incurable and always fatal. the holla for als event is hosted by a very dear friend of mine and adam’s {janene ingram} and it raises funds for the les turner als foundation. we had a wonderful time at the event and it always feels so good to help out a really great cause. if you would like to learn more about als or to donate to the les turner als foundation, click here.

ps. sorry for the bad quality of these photos. i only had my iphone and it was a little too dark for it's modest settings.

adam and i have really been trying to explore more chicago neighborhoods. it’s amazing how when you live in a big city like chicago it is so easy to get stuck in your neighborhood {or a few select other neighborhoods} and never explore all of the other exciting places the city has to offer. this weekend we decided we were going to check out ravenswood. we’ve heard great things about ravenswood and it seems to be getting more and more popular for young families. so on saturday adam, kevin, and i {and gruber} decided to head up there to check out a pizza place {spacca napoli} and seriously you guys, this might be the best pizza i’ve eaten. ever. it.was.amazing! just look at these mouth watering pizzas below. also, the dessert is fantastic! i had the zabaglione {don’t ask me how to pronounce that} which was like a cross between a custard + cake batter. i wanted to take a picture for you guys, but when it came out i completely forgot to snap a pic because it looked so good! i ate it in about 30 seconds and could only take a pic of the aftermath.

how cute is this little girl?! she was obsessed with gruber and even threw him a piece of bread when her parents weren't looking. he was in heaven.

gruber was so happy to hang with us. this was one of the best patios i have seen in the city and i can't wait to bring gruber back again!

on sunday we headed back up to ravenswood because we had seen a brunch spot that looked like it may be good {glenn’s diner}. to be honest, it was ok. with so many good spots in the city i don’t think we’ll be back, but i’m glad we tried it.
