happy saturday! it’s very rare that i post something on the weekend. i actually made a rule for myself about a year ago that i wouldn’t post anything {except for special occasions} so that i could just enjoy my time with adam {and now the twins}. since he’s usually working like crazy during the week, the weekends are our family time and are very special to all of us. and while i think it’s important for us to continue to have the weekends be “blog-free” i didn’t get a chance to do anything this past week because of traveling, and settling back to life in toronto, and most definitely laundry. lots and lots of laundry. so anyway, i thought i’d just do a quick post highlighting some of the fun we had in the bahamas!

this vacation was actually our first trip alone since breck and thatcher were born. i was so glad to spend some time with adam, but believe me when i say that i almost didn’t get on the plane to go. in fact, until the flight actually took off, i was thinking that i might not actually go. but, i did. and now that it’s over, i’m really glad that i did. because even though i knew that adam and i needed some time together, once we were there, it was so obvious just how much we did. so i think we may try to do at least one “alone” trip a year so that we can make sure we are maintaining our relationship and by such are presenting a healthy marriage to the twins. and now that i think about it, there may be more on that later. but for now, back to our fabulous trip to the bahamas!

we were actually in the bahamas as a work trip for adam. so, while i may not have necessarily picked it as a destination, i’m not one to complain about a free trip! we spent the days relaxing on the beach {well, i did visit the spa one day while adam played golf}, eating lots of food, and going down water slides {ok, ok, i only went down one slide, but that’s a big thing for me because as you may or may not know, i’m terrified of heights}! we drank tropical drinks, met new friends, and in the best way possible completely lost track of time. the best part about the trip though – hands down – no contest – s.l.e.e.p.i.n.g. through. the. night! i forgot how good it feels to have deep, uninterrupted sleep. it was magical. and that alone was enough to make it a perfect trip. but also, i got to spend quality time with my perfect husband. so here’s hoping that we stay good on our promise to do one of these trips again next year {or sooner}. because who doesn’t love good food, relaxing landscape, and of course, sleep. so, thanks husband, for giving me another wonderful vacation! fair warning: there are a quite a few selfies since i was hanging by myself a little while adam played some golf 😉

bahamas2bahamas4bahamas3^^ this mara hoffman swimsuit is such a flattering post-baby swimsuit. i tried on many, many suits and this one by far had the most flattering cut. totally worth the crazy tan lines.

bahamas5bahamas6bahamas7bahamas9^^ i have to be very honest about how i am feeling about this picture. i was really hesitant to post this because i am still getting used to my post-baby body and sometimes the internet can be cruel. and truth be told, i’m not really sure how to say exactly how i feel. i love this body and everything it’s been through, and oh man am i so thankful for those beautiful babies. but, i’m also human. and sometimes i’m really self conscious. and i think everybody is. and that’s normal. and ok. and it doesn’t make us shallow, it just makes us human.

bahamas10bahamas13bahamas11bahamas12^^ and then we were so sad to leave. but also, so ready to see breckie and thatch!
